ROOM AIR CHANGES PER HOUR CONFIRMATION TEST

ROOM AIR CHANGES PER HOUR CONFIRMATION TEST
(Measuring of Air Velocity and Number of Air Changes)

Objective:
To demonstrate that for Air Handling Unit the total air volumes delivered to each room provide sufficient air to satisfy minimum air change rates specified.

Acceptance Criteria:
The rooms served by Air Handling Unit, Achieve the air change rates shall be not less than 20 ACPH.(For all the rooms).

Test Equipment:
1.     Measuring tape.
2.     Calibrated anemometer.

Procedure:
1.     By measuring the internal dimensions of each room manually, calculate the volumes of all relevant rooms in ft³.
2.     By measuring the supply air diffuser opening dimensions of each supply air diffuser, calculate the cross sectional area of each supply air diffuser opening in ft².
3.     By using anemometer, measure the air velocity at approximately 6” away from the supply air diffuser at 5 different locations.(4 corners and at middle). If require, remove the diffuser before taking the measurement.
4.     Calculate the average air velocity for each supply air diffuser.
5.     By repeating the step no 2 and 3, calculate the average air velocity for all the filters in room wise.
6.     Calculate the volume of air from each supply air diffuser opening, by using the following formula:
Air volume in CFM=
Cross sectional area of supply air diffuser opening in ft² X  Average air velocity(FPM).
7.     Add measured in CFM from all diffusers to get total supply air volume in room.
8.     Using the total measured supply air volumes(CFM) for each room, calculate the actual air change rate per hour based on the calculated room volume using the following formula:
ACPH=CFM(Actual total air quantity) X 60
                    Room volume(ft³)
